Serum Taurine

Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats, playing a crucial role in maintaining heart function, vision, reproductive health, and immune function. Unlike many other species, cats cannot synthesize sufficient taurine and must obtain it from their diet. Taurine deficiency in cats can lead to serious health problems, including dilated cardiomyopathy, retinal degeneration, and reproductive failure. Early detection and correction of low taurine levels are essential to prevent irreversible health damage.
