Feline Coronavirus (PCR)

The Feline Coronavirus (PCR) test is a molecular diagnostic tool designed to detect the genetic material of feline coronavirus (FCoV), a common viral pathogen in domestic cats.Feline coronavirus primarily infects the gastrointestinal tract, often causing mild to subclinical infections. However, in certain cats, FCoV can mutate into a virulent form, leading to feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a severe and often fatal systemic disease.  This test utilizes polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to provide rapid, highly specific, and sensitive detection of FCoV RNA in effusion fluid.
