Cytology Evaluation by DACVP
The Cytology – Aspirate/Smear test involves the microscopic evaluation of cellular material obtained through fine-needle aspiration or impression smears, which will be evaluated by a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (DACVP).
5-6 Air dried smears or good quality stained smears
Provide the origin of the aspirate (i.e. oral mass, abdominal fluid), brief clinical description and history.
Submission of 2-6 slides is typically sufficient for cytologic evaluation from each source.
Additional charges is applied when 10 or more slides are received for each source.
Label each sample with the animal’s name and a unique identifier, using a permanent marker or a secure adhesive label
Ensure the submittal form is completed with the animal’s information and relevant medical history.
